SATURDAY 26th JULY 2014                       NEWCASTLE, CO. WICKLOW

Coastal Flora

The outing consisted of a walk along the shingle beach to examine and discuss some of the plants that are typically found in this habitat. We say two species in particular that have not been seen regularly on our littoral outings in North County Dublin, namely Sea Holly (Eryngium maritimum) and Horned Poppy (Glaucium flavum). We also found Sea Kale (Crambe maritima), a nationslly rare species, that has been transplanted on this stretch of beach.
