SATURDAY 29th NOVEMBER 2014       MUSEUM BUILDING, TRINITY COLLEGE

LEADERS: KIERAN CRAVEN  & PATRICK WYSE JACKSON

Geology

Kieran conducted an excellent and broad-ranging session looking at mineral and rock specimens in the laboratories in the Museum Building, Trinity College. Tips on how to recognise common minerals in the field were given, and common rocks were viewed under the microscope.

Following Kieran's presentation, Professor Patrick Wyse Jackson, curator of the Geology Museum and a former President of the Field Club, gave a very interesting presentation on paleontology, based on an exhibition of fossils which he had mounted specially for the occasion. Patrick's special area of interest is bryozoans.
