Trees in Winter

It was a lovely crisp bright wintry morning, but cold.  About 15 people came and we walked around the perimeter of the grounds of Cabinteely Park, where there is a band of woodland with a good collection of fine mature trees, both broadleaves and conifers.

We looked at the following features to help identify them: overall shape, bark, twigs buds, scales, and any remaining fallen leaves, fruits or seeds.  For the conifers we also examined the needles.  We looked at young and mature trees.  We identified the following trees.
